How things are described plays an important role too. Use appropriate language when talking about women and men and portray them in the same way to reduce gender stereotyping and sexism. See the box \u2018Gender Fair Language and Portrayals \u2013 a mini guide\u2019 further down to find out what this means in practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TRAIN NEWSROOM STAFF IN GENDER BIAS AND BALANCE<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>All employees should be aware of the importance of gender balance, and have the practical know-how to produce gender balanced news content. Training should include both the <span class=\"chapter-shortcut\" data-target=\"chapter-3\" data-shortcut=\"section-07\">\u2018parallelism\u2019 and \u2018reversibility\u2019 techniques<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CREATE A STYLE GUIDE<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With a gender balance style guide, all of your newsroom staff are aware of appropriate and inappropriate language (as above).
