The media plays a very important role in shaping public opinion, which means that any kind of gender stereotyping, subtle or not, has damaging consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To change the way we work, and produce content which treats women and men equally, we need to examine our own biases and be more aware of the different ways in which we gender stereotype.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gender stereotyping can manifest itself in a number of different ways, from the language we use to talk about women to the images we choose to depict them. While some examples of gender stereotyping and imbalance are glaringly obvious, others are subtler and have become so common in news coverage that it can be difficult to identify them as such.
